Real Country

Get the real feel of country and make the most of the big-hearted hospitality, and taste test the harvests of the regions hinterland and country.

Set off for Mt Perry via Gin Gin and drive through Boolboonda Tunnel and visit the wineries on the way.

Mt Perry, a delightful township with attractions related to it’s copper and gold mining history, picnic here or enjoy the hospitality of the local pub.

West Ward Ho! Through the high country to Australia’s Country Way and on to Monto, Cania Gorge National Park and Lake Cania.

Head back towards Eidsvold which is the centre of the Siltstone industry and view the collections and real treasures of the historical museum complex.

Next stop is Mundubberra, noted for the variety of fruit and vegetables it produces, enjoy a picnic at nearby Auburn River National Park, its worth a visit.

Enjoy lookout views from the Binjour Plateau to Gayndah. Colourful gardens and roadside stores welcome visitors. Walk the main street and be intrigued by its history.

Ban Ban Springs is your turning point to Biggenden, the peaks of Mt Walsh and Congarra Rock are a natural beauty, enticing you to stay a while.

Coral Coasting

Day 1:
Pack a picnic and head for Moore Park Beach. Take a swim, feed the ducks in the lagoon, stroll on the boardwalk or get the sand beneath your 4WD tyres. For a taste of country follow the map to Smiths Crossing. You’ll cross a quaint wooden bridge and find picnic tables on the northern banks of the Kolan River. Journey on to Bucca where there’s a great swimming spot with shaded picnic areas at the river crossing. Continue on to South Kolan, stop for a cuppa or BBQ at the Sharon Nature Park and take the forest path down to the edge of the Burnett River.

Day 2:
Breakfast by the water at Burnett Heads or the Bundaberg Port Marina. Find out why the turtles love Mon Repos and see the stone “Kanaka’’ walls along the way. At Bargara stroll along the Esplanade, dine in one of the many alfresco eateries or do some shopping. Nearby Neilson Park is an ideal family stopover for picnics, swimming or skate boarding. For a choice of idyllic surf and calm swimming spots, picnic areas and golf courses follow the Esplanade to the Basin and Kelly’s Beach, Innes Park and Coral Cove and further on to Elliot Heads. Barolin Rocks is a favourite with Scuba Divers. The Hummock Lookout offers the best views of the beautiful coastline and surrounding farmland.



A Mix of Coast & Country

Enjoy nature in National parks, visit picturesque country towns and walk on a glorious beach.

Take Mt Perry Road – stop at the unique geological formation and antique machinery display at Mystery Craters.

The Gin Gin Visitor Information Centre has maps and advice, about what to see and do in the area.

Divert to Lake Monduran and take a refresher stop and then head south to Good Night Scrub National Park – this is a gravel diversion and only suitable for 2WD in dry conditions.

Drive through lush green sugar cane fields, past Isis sugar mill to the charming township of Cordalba (watch for cane trains July to November).

The heritage town of Childers with it welcoming parks, gardens and streetscape and great choice of eateries make this a great lunch interlude. Give your taste buds and try ice cream at Mammino’s or visit Snakes Downunder Reptile Park for a snapping good time.

Kangaroos can be seen at Woodgate Beach, which is surrounded by National Parks. Fishing is fantastic and the beautiful beach just stretches forever. Boardwalks meander through the area and a colorful display of wildflowers, abundance of wildlife can be found in the National Parks. 4WD trails allow further exploration and beachside camping is available.
