Our region is a special place to live, enjoy life and spend time with your family. Work here, invest locally or travel to and from here for work elsewhere - Bundaberg is a great place to base yourself. The Bundaberg region, centred on the Burnett River, is situated just 375km north of Brisbane.
The city is well serviced by road, rail and air. Our region provides a climate envied by most - said to be the most equable in Australia and rates fifth in the world alongside Hawaii. The Bundaberg Regional Council covers a population of over 95,000 across coastal, city and country areas. Modern shopping centres cater for retail therapy, two cinemas, a theatre for live productions and regional art galleries.
Coastal centres such as Woodgate provide tranquil lifestyles with easy access to Bundaberg's services. Closer to Bundaberg on the coast are Elliott Heads, Coral Cove, Innes Park, Bargara, Burnett Heads and Moore Park - our beaches are ideal for families. Just 50km to the south is the charming town of Childers, set amongst rolling green hills covered in sugar cane, macadamia trees and small crops.
To the north on the Bruce Highway is Gin Gin. Lake Monduran, well known as a water storage and irrigation source for the region, is a great place for barramundi fishing. The cost of living is very reasonable with major supermarket chains servicing Bundaberg and some regional centres. Local fresh fruit, vegetables and seafood are available at competitive prices. Students are well catered for with a wide range of education facilities available through to TAFE and university. Boating and fishing are popular with marinas in the city, Bundaberg Port and Burnett Heads or try the dams, coastal estuaries, beaches or the reef. There are numerous sports played in the region and almost every sport is catered for.
