Heartland Festival is a whole weekend devoted to showcasing all things made, grown and produced in the North Burnett.

This year's delicious key events include

‘It’s All About The Food’. This is the theme of Gayndah Art Gallery’s Biannual Art Competition, as well as the premise behind every Heartland Festival event.

Both will come together in delicious style at the Gayndah Art Gallery on Friday, 13th July when the opening night of the Biannual Art Competition combines with the launch of Heartland Festival 2018.

Get your sparkle on and dress in theme (sparkles) to receive a free glass of bubbly on arrival then savour the hot and cold bare grazing table showcasing our region’s produce. Be entertained by Cilla Slack and Eden Smith performing their Sparkles & Glamour act and take the opportunity to wander through the art competition’s entries.

The event starts at 7pm and there are prizes for the best dressed. Tickets are $25 each.

Heartland Festival’s Market Day is getting more mouth-watering every year… come along to the Gayndah State School Oval on Saturday, 14th July 2018 where you can feast on ‘all things made, grown and produced in the North Burnett’.

There will be plenty to see, touch, taste and take home as you make your way through the rows of stalls overflowing with fresh produce, flowers, art, ready-to-eat food, coffee, wine tasting and much more. A free children’s entertainment area will be available with jumping castle, lego tent and sandpit. There will also be live entertainment and a bar operating throughout the day.

Running from 9am to 3pm, entry is a gold coin donation at the gate.

Experience an intersection of food, community and local produce during Eat Street at The Old Tin Shed on Saturday, 14th July 2018.

Discover a moveable feast of mix-and-match eats from burgers to beers when you buy something flavoursome from one of the food vans. Make a night of it; enjoy the atmosphere and live entertainment under the old tin shed and twinkling lights. Relax amongst the gums while overlooking the citrus orchard. Have a drink at the unique Silo Bar and mingle with neighbours and friends.

Eat Street is on from 5pm to 10.30pm. Entry cost is $25 per person.

Taking in farm tours, fresh produce, scenic views and scrumptious food, the Fruit to Flowers Bus Tour is a day out to be desired.

Starting with a breakfast of croissants, local preserves and tea/coffee from 8am at the Gayndah Heritage Railway on Sunday, 15th July 2018, the bus tour will then depart at 9am for its first farm tour at Smart Berries. From there it is onto a tour of the trees and operations at Boyne River Pecans. Here you will enjoy a leisurely brunch of grazing platters overflowing with local produce, juices and baguettes. Then delight your senses at Kelly Fredline Florist where bunches of flowers and homemade candles will be available for purchase before the tour returns to the Gayndah Heritage Railway around 3pm.

Tickets are $65 each.

A picnic basket laden with gorgeous food on a blanket spread out in the sunshine on a crisp winter’s day; family and friends enjoying each other’s company before joining in traditional games of tug-o-war, egg and spoon race, sack races and tunnel ball; wandering through some market stalls and buying fresh produce before sitting back with a beverage from the bar listening to local entertainment…. put yourself in this scene at the Gayndah Heritage Railway Picnic on Sunday, 15th July 2018.

Tickets are $60 per family (family of 4), which includes a picnic basket laden with local meat, eggs, cheese, bread, blueberries, avocado, citrus, chutney and more. Softdrink is included and a bar will be operating. Don’t miss this family day out full of traditional fun and local produce!

Kelly Voss and her team from Kel’s Katering will be showcasing sexy, fresh food from the North Burnett region during Heartland Festival’s last event for 2018, which will be held behind the Gayndah Art Gallery on Sunday, 15th July.

A mix of sweet and savoury treats to entice your tastebuds will be served canape style under the stars on the banks of the Burnett River. Mix and mingle under the Poinciana trees at twilight while enjoying a drink from the Heartland Bar and listening to live entertainment by Trevor Dodds. The Gayndah Art Gallery will also be open throughout the event.

Tickets are $55 each.
