BLUES ARTIST AMANDA EMBLEM RETURNS TO NORTH TO REVISIT PARADISE! Amanda Emblem reckons that North Queensland is the place to be during Winter. So much so, this is her second solo Winter Tour in as many years. She will be performing in Towns from Apple Tree Creek up to Bushland Beach (Townsvillle area) on what she has named the “Pure Paradise Tour”. Armed with a stack of new tunes and her debut album “Who Is Amanda Emblem?” her return North preludes a number of high profile festival dates later this year and some exciting guest appearances on her return to the Sunshine Coast, where she joins up with her band members. Amanda’s year started in a war zone, as part of a massive tour performing for Australian Armed Forces (Forces Entertainment) in the Middle East with the Air Force Band, three comedians and one other music act. Performing as “The Amanda Emblem Experiment” with her drummer “Taco” they literally followed World leaders from Iraq to Afghanistan bringing some hometown joy for those so far away from family and loved ones during the Christmas season. Amanda has completed six tours for our Defence Forces as a civilian musician over the last ten years, travelling to Timor Leste, The Solomon Islands, Egypt, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Tarin Kowt, Dubai and also Iraq. These experiences have made her appreciate the beauty and stability of our Country as well as giving her an understanding of the important role our Defence Force plays in ensuring the stability during wartimes as well as providing peacetime support overseas. “I feel privileged to get the opportunity to provide entertainment to our overseas personnel and my heart goes out to the innocent people in those countries who live their daily lives in very dangerous situations. Here in Australia we have it so easy. We have a stable democracy, a beautiful country, unspoilt by war and so rich in resources. I don’t think people really understand how truly lucky we are, and as a result we are also very complacent”. Having also toured extensively throughout Europe in 2015, as well as touring as support for major touring acts Kiss and Aerosmith in her previous bands, the solo experience is also something she appreciates, mostly due to a lack of pressure and the ease of coordination. “I have a freedom as a solo artist on the stage to go in any direction, to read the audience and to bring something different to every show. My drummer “Taco” is very intuitive, If it were possible I’d have him accompany me for every show, but when I bring in other members, the sets need to be more structured and rehearsed. So my “Pure Paradise” tour is also about that freedom, as well as taking in the beautiful sights, the beaches, the top spots and the unique towns along the way... Especially the great Op Shops! When I tour with others there’s not nearly as much time to appreciate the journey. Catch Amanda performing at Apple Tree Creek Hotel Sat 20 July.
