The Bundaberg Sinfonietta and 4 local young composers from Bundaberg join world renowned Topology in presenting a unique music and cinema experience on February 23rd at 7pm at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre in Bundaberg. Over 20 rural and remote communities in regional and rural Queensland have already enjoyed the Queensland at Home performances. Now it is time for Bundy to experience the time capsule of vintage film from the State Library of Queensland accompanied by a live original score composed by Robert Davidson. The performance of Queensland at Home will be preceded by a world premiere of a film by David Quarrell and Johnny Nicol – From the Depths. The soundtrack has been composed by local composers John Rota, Andrew Udal, Justin Todd and Lukaeja Morrison. These young musicians have been working with Topology for the last few months creating new music for this special performance. The live music for the film will be performed by Topology and members of the Bundaberg Sinfonietta. After 21 years Topology has become known as one of Queensland’s finest arts organisations, ARIA-nominated with 16 albums and countless tours and performances in Australia and overseas. Topology have become a staple sound in Australian music. “The Queensland at Home production is by far the largest tour undertaken by Topology. By the end of June, we will have worked with communities and students and presented Queensland at Home in 42 towns in regional Queensland”. says Christa Powell – Creative Director – Topology. “John Babbage, our Top Up Program Director has travelled over 40,000km so far to deliver composition workshops with students prior to the Queensland at Home performances. Each show has included the community whether it be a photographic display, performance of a new composition or poetry reading. In Longreach, we worked with the Longreach School of Dance and presented a magical performance at the QANTAS Museum. It is working with the community on exhibitions and special events linking with each performance that means over4000 people will experience Topology as part of this tour.” “Topology’s mission is to unleash this creativity: to foster connections and nurture potential with communities, audiences, peers and young people. This tour has provided us with the opportunity to reach more communities and support the creative communities in regional and rural Queensland.” Christa says.
