Big Beer and Big Picture

It's all beer bellies and belly laughs for visitors at Bargara Brewing Co., but owners Jack and Jacinta Milbank have their sights set on a much bigger picture.

Bundaberg is well known for its iconic beverages, with Bundaberg Rum and Bundaberg Brewed Drinks internationally-recognised brands. But in the past few years, a group of grassroot brewers and distillers have been emerging with their own boutique beverages, and Bargara Brewing Company is among the most ambitious.

You can't help but be drawn to owner Jack Millbank's quiet but frenetic energy - the man positively fizzes with enthusiasm for his business, his life, and his community. A passionate local scientist and business man, it's clear that this was never going to be a small-scale hobby. He has turned his life-long dream into reality, with a rapidly expanding export business that is generating local jobs and economic development in the region.

BBCo is dedicated to producing the best and using the best ingredients, which is easy when you brew your beer in a region as abundant and high-quality as the Bundaberg North Burnett. BBCo is also dedicated to the very topical issue of food waste, as the local ingredients sourced, while world-leading in quality, would usually be thrown away due to being the wrong size or the wrong shape for the big retailers. An avid supporter of social activism causes, one example being Great Barrier Beer, A collaboration brew with The Good Beer Company which supports The Australian Marine Conservation Society with 50% of profits going to support AMCS's conservation projects.

BBCo is committed to local farmers, sourcing regional produce, such as Mandarin Juice from the North Burnett for it's soon to be release Escorro Honey Murcott Vermouth, and local talent to keep the economic growth in our region to benefit the community. You too can help them continue this growth by supporting local businesses and drinking local beer, Cider or Vermouth... how hard could it be?
