With Christmas fast approaching, escape the hustle and bustle of the city these school holidays and retreat to the relaxing, seaside town of Woodgate Beach with the family.

Day 1

Pack up the kids, grab the beach towels and take the short 3.5-hour drive from Brisbane to this picturesque town. Don’t worry, you’ll know when you arrive at Woodgate Beach when you spot 16km of pristine, white sand and deep, blue water.

 

Lunch with a view

With every turn, these breathtaking views of coastline will be in sight. Enjoy the start of your well-deserved break with a delicious lunch overlooking the palm-tree laced esplanade and waves crashing in the distance.

Try: Relax on the deck at Serenity Cove Café and taste one of their famous burgers.

Check-in

Just a short walk from Serenity Cove Café, check-in at your accommodation at the NRMA Woodgate Beach Holiday Park. It’s the perfect location for the kids with the beach across the road and pathways for skateboarding and bike riding.

Getaway to the outdoors

Discover the beautiful walking trails of Woodgate Beach and explore Burrum Coast National Park with the Banksia Track. Wander through eucalyptus and banksia woodlands, spotting wildlife along the way.

Try: If you’re feeling more adventurous, visit Walker’s Point and take the Birdhide Walk – you might be lucky and spot rainbow bee-eaters or white-bellied sea eagles.

 

Day 2

After a peaceful night’s sleep, jump in the car and head to Theodolite Creek. Don’t forget to bring the camp chairs, boogie boards and buckets for sandcastles.

Try: Enjoy a mouthwatering Eggs Benedict at Serenity Cove Café for breakfast.

Eat, Beach, Repeat

Spend the day at a local favourite, Theodolite Creek. With beautiful paperbark trees and blue gums, this creek is the perfect spot to enjoy quality time with the family. Protected from winds, it’s a popular spot for SUPing and kayaking. 

Try: Pack a picnic for lunch and relax with uninterrupted beach views. .

Quintessential beachside dinner

Let’s face it, it’s not a beach holiday without fish and chips along the foreshore. Pick up dinner and sit at one of the tables along the esplanade for a delicious end to a fun-filled day.

Try: Bring a volley ball for a game on the beach before the sun goes down.

Day 3

Don’t worry, the holiday’s not over quite just yet.

Catch the last of the coast

Soak up the last of those beachside views with an early morning stroll along the esplanade. It’s a great spot for the kids to ride their bikes and use up their energy before the ride home! 

Try: Keep a look out for the Kangaroos that live throughout Woodgate Beach.
