10 Crush Festival Events to Make Your October More Creative

Crush Festival celebrates it's 10th birthday with 10 days of creative experiences. Here's 10 events (out of 31 amazing events) you need to add to your calendar:

1. Ergon Energy Crush Block Party

Is there anything better than a laneway festival? Join us for the Ergon Energy Crush Block Party for an evening of street theatre, trivia, music, dance, street art demonstrations, food and family-friendly fun.

When: Saturday 6 October, 5 – 8pm
Where: Bourbong St and Post Office Lane, Bundaberg
Cost: FREE

 

2. See-Saw: A New Play

Crush Festival is proud to present 'See-Saw', an independently written play by young emerging playwright Isabella Beutel. Come enjoy this short play alongside the Crush Block Party with a surprise ending that will leave you wanting more.

When: Saturday 6 October, 5pm & 7pm
Where: The Generator, Bundaberg (Above the Post Office)
Cost: $5 at the door

 

3. Crafting A Future

Meet business women Carolyn Boylan and Leanne Baker this Crush Festival and learn how you too can come to lead a more organised and creative life. Join Carolyn for a workshop in crafting beautiful cards and settle in to listen to Leanne share some of her practical tips for organisation, goal-setting and self-care.

When: Sunday 7 October, 9:30am
Where: Bundaberg Multiplex Centre, Civic Street, Bundaberg

4. Pizza & Poetry

Is poetry your passion or are you looking to try something new? Join Australian Nation Slam Poetry finalist Anisa Nandaula for an evening of pizza and poetry at our favourite Dutch-inspired building, The Windmill Café.

When: Tuesday 9 October, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Where: The Windmill Café, 12 See Street, Bargara

5. Paint Your Cake & Eat It Too

Situated in the picturesque Eleven Acres gardens join artist Adrienne Williams for a watercolour workshop. In this workshop you can paint your cake and eat it too!

When: Wednesday 10 October, 9:30 – 10:30am
Where: Eleven Acres, 363 Branyan Drive, Bundaberg
Cost: $35 PP – RSVP 3pm 4 October

 

6. Gin & 'Blank'

Order a Kalki Moon gin and tonic, grab a bite from the boys at the Bundy Burger Company and settling in for a masterful performance by award-winning journalist Kallee Buchanan. 'Blank' by Nassim Soleimanpour puts a twist on traditional theatre with a script riddled with blanks giving the audience the opportunity to steer the story with their own imagination.

When: Wednesday 10 October, 6:30 – 9:30pm
Where: Kalki Moon Distilling and Brewing Company, 22 Commercial Street, Bundaberg

7. Crush on the River

To celebrate the Crush Festival's 10th year their hosting an extra special Friday at RiverFeast  with live blues, roots and reggae inspired music from the popular Jesse Morris Band. Enjoy a locally crafted cider or a Bundaberg Brewed Drink as you watch the sun go down over the Burnett River while sampling an array of 'Crush' themed dishes from vendors.

When: Friday 12 October, 4pm
Where: Riverfeast Bundaberg, 1A Scotland Street, Bundaberg East
Cost: FREE

 

8. The Artist's Lunch

Calling all artists! You're invited to an afternoon of food, wine and conversation amongst the vineyards at Vintner's Secret Vineyard. Take this opportunity to meet with other passionate local artists, share ideas and develop networks for your upcoming projects.

When: Saturday 13 October, 11:30am
Where: Vintner's Secret Vineyard, 135 North Isis Road, Childers

9. Spirit of Bundaberg Festival

Voted the World's Best Distillery Event (2016 & 2018), Australia's biggest rum & food festival is back for another year of rum, music, food and fun. Celebrating Bundaberg Rum's 130th birthday the festival is set to be bigger and better than ever with the annual Battle Of The Sounds set to get your feet tapping and your hips swinging.

When: Saturday 13 October, 10am – 5pm
Where: Bundaberg Rum Distillery, Hills Street, Bundaberg East

10. Crush Sand Sculpture & Beach BBQ

Wrap up 10 days of creative experiences with some family-friendly fun on Elliott Heads beach. Try your hand at the sand sculpture competition, enjoy a sausage sizzle (first 100 FREE!), and listen to the beat of The Unity Drummers.

When: Sunday 14 October, 3 – 5pm
Where: Elliott Heads Surf Lifesaving Club, LIHS Street, Elliott Heads
