Elliott Heads

DESTINATION DUPE: WHITEHAVEN EAT YOUR HEART OUT

Down on the Southern Great Barrier Reef, where the river meets the sea, you’ll find Elliott Heads. One of the Bundaberg Region’s most photogenic spots, it’s got that picture-perfect mix of powdery white sand, turquoise water and just the right amount of sea breeze to make you forget what day it is.

It’s the go-to for locals chasing a splash of adventure, from kite surfers catching air to families floating in the calm river mouth. Pack the beach tent, bring the esky, and settle in for the day (or the week… we won’t judge).

CREEK, SAND,

and paddles

Elliott Heads is where the creek drifts lazily into the ocean and the tide takes its time. Families, dog walkers, and anyone after a slow day can chill on the sand, paddle in the calm river mouth, or just flop under a palm. For those after a bit of action, grab a windsurfer, hop in a tinny, or snorkel the calm waters and see what’s swimming by.

Things

to do

This beach is what dreams are made of!  Paddle out from the beach to snorkel our reef within reach, located just offshore.  Or walk to Dr May’s Island and find your own spa-sized fairy pool.

The Elliott Heads Holiday Park is right by the patrolled beach, complete with a café, barbecues, shady picnic spots and all the creature comforts you need to call it home for a while.
