DISCOVER THESE BEAUTIFUL BEACHES ALONG THE CORAL COAST

You've heard of island hopping, but have you heard of beach hopping? Discover Bargara and the Coral Coast's most idyllic beaches that paint the coastline.

ELLIOTT HEADS

Where river meets ocean and country turns to coast, head towards the pristine beach of Elliott Heads and be greeted by rows upon rows of sugarcane, fresh abundant produce and sweeping views of the Elliot River. This local hotspot offering sparkling blue waters and white sandy beach is a paradise for kite-surfers, jet-skiers, and surfing enthusiasts a-like. Enjoy the calming waters of the river mouth for those that prefer a more soothing swim or simply explore the fringing coral and large rockpools just north of the sand beach areas. Just a short 15min drive from the Bundaberg CBD and you’ll arrive at this summer-time haven.

Local Tip: Pack a kite for the kids or a beach-side picnic to enjoy after your swim.

BARGARA BEACH

At the section of all the action sits Bargara. Showcasing regional produce with oceanfront dining and local gelati, butcheries, bakeries, and fish and chip chops, this beachfront oasis is the lifestyle capital of the Southern Great Barrier Reef. Do it like the locals; put on your togs, grab your board and hit the waves in the morning, enjoy a sunrise stroll then stop into your favourite café for some takeaway and say hi to your local barista who makes your coffee ‘oh so good’. Whether you are looking for BBQ spots, surf beaches, or beaches for young kids, Bargara has something for everyone.

Local Tip: Stop into the plentiful farm-gate honesty boxes as you drive into Bargara and have your pick at fresh juicy watermelons, flowers and more!

WOODGATE BEACH

Escape to the secluded Woodgate Beach where pristine sand awaits and the activities are endless! This quintessential beach will have you diving into tropical waters with your SUP, kayak or kite-surfer as you enjoy your post-card perfect getaway. Prefer to put your feet up and soak up some sun in your own personal beach retreat? You will be spoiled for choice with a coastline stretching 16km waiting to be explored. Stop into the many farm-gates as you drive into Woodgate Beach and enjoy a tasty beach-side picnic. From scenic nature trails, 4WD tracks and abundant wildlife make Woodgate Beach your next escape.

KELLY'S BEACH

Discover local swimming haven Kelly's Beach. Boasting various swimming holes and calm snorkeling areas, Kelly's Beach is a paradise for families spending the day at Bargara and the Coral Coast. Dive into the waves at Kelly's Beach or dip your feet into the flowing tide at the causeway and discover your own favourite place along the shoreline before retreating to the shaded BBQ areas to dry off.  With playgrounds and plenty of space to have fun, why not take a footy to kick on the beach and make the most out of this local favourite.

OAKS BEACH

Take a stroll along the 200 metre stretch of Oaks beach and enjoy this mini sandy oasis. Just 10-minutes from Bargara, this hidden gem is one that mostly locals know and love. Splash around in the water at high tide or get creative making sand turtles on the seashore at low tide, before exploring the fascinating rock pools boasting various fish and other wildlife. You’ll find yourself getting lost in time as you relax in the quiet surrounds with nothing but the ocean at your fingertips.

Fun Fact: Oaks Beach is man made! Local farmers were looking for a nice quiet place to swim among the rocky coastline and formed Oaks Beach.

Note: Oaks Beach is a safe family-friendly beach. Please be mindful of the submerged rocks and strong currents, particularly around the rock wall, and take note that this beach is only patrolled on weekends.

MOORE PARK BEACH

Patrolled by the Moore Park Beach Surf Lifesaving Club during summer, park yourself upon a 20km stretch of sandy coastline. Moore Park is only a 20min drive from Bundaberg and provides activities for every kind of enthusiast. Moore Park Beach even has a stretch of sand dedicated to your four-legged fur friend. Throw the line out, spread out the beach chairs and umbrella, wax-up the surfboard and put your swimmers on for a day of summer adventure at Moore Park Beach.
