UK LUXURY TRAVEL AGENTS DISCOVER THE HEART OF THE SOUTHERN GREAT BARRIER REEF IN BUNDABERG
The Bundaberg Region tourism industry have rolled out the red carpet for a group of high-end UK travel professionals who have experienced the magic of the Southern Great Barrier Reef first-hand as part of Prestige Travel UK’s first-ever Queensland-only famil.
The eight-day journey saw Prestige Travel’s Wholesale Product Manager and five top retail agents explore Queensland’s world-class destinations across Bundaberg and the Southern Great Barrier Reef as well as in Tropical North Queensland.
The group dove deep into the authentic experiences, warm hospitality and natural wonders that make this destination a standout with Lady Elliot Island, Splitters Farm, Monsoon Aquatics and Queensland Rail pulling out the stops to share with the agents a region where sustainability and authenticity take centre stage.
Loni Hammond, Bundaberg Tourism’s Industry Development Manager said, “This famil was an important opportunity to further develop Bundaberg’s profile as the gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef on the global stage.
“It was wonderful to hear that these well-travelled agents were blown away by the incredible marine life and reef experiences, unlike anything they’ve encountered anywhere in the world.
“They were equally moved by the warmth and authenticity of the people who make up our tourism industry and the genuine Bundaberg hospitality that shines through in every encounter with every guest we welcome to our Region.
“I’m so proud and grateful to our hosting operators for their investment, passion, and support, and excited for what lies ahead for Bundaberg as a leading tourism destination.”
The famil was part of a broader promotion in the UK, which was made possible thanks to the partnership of the Great Barrier Reef RTOs, TEQ and Prestige Travel UK, to continue to deepen enthusiasm from the UK’s luxury travel sector. As part of the promotional activity, more than 40 UK retail agents completed Southern Great Barrier Reef online training prior to the famil, laying the groundwork for greater destination awareness across the UK market.
