Destination DEVELOPMENT

Destination Development is one of Bundaberg Tourism’s five strategic priorities. Visitors and looking for experiences that share the story of people, place and produce. The Bundaberg and North Burnett regions are humble, authentic and real and tourism helps to tell that story.

Bundaberg Tourism works extensively in the Experience and Industry Development spaces, offering a broad variety of programs, workshops, initiatives and support for the long-term benefit of the regional tourism industry.

BEST OF Queensland EXPERIENCE PROGRAM

TEQ’s Best of Queensland Experiences Program is based on an independent set of criteria that incorporates online customer reviews, responds to consumer expectations and reflects industry best practice.  Each year the Best of Queensland Experiences Program assesses all tourism products with a live listing on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) against a set of five weighted criteria that total 100 points. Operators do not need to apply to be part of the Best of Queensland Experiences Program. The program is based on an independent set of criteria that incorporates online customer reviews, responds to consumer expectations and reflects industry best practice. Tourism products require at least 80 points out of 100 to be identified as a Best of Queensland Experience.

TOURISM TRADE

Distribution is a critical part of growing your tourism business - by partnering with travel agents, wholesalers or inbound tour operators, you can broaden your reach across target markets than you could or afford to on your own.

Tourism is a highly competitive market and to attract customers and generate sales, a competitive strategy is to be found where people are looking for tourism experiences. Trade distribution complements your own marketing activity - advertising, via your website or social media - by tapping into your partners' marketing efforts to reach customers you wouldn’t otherwise have access to. For this access, you will pay a commission on any guaranteed bookings that your partner secures for you.

Once an operator has completed a Trade Mentoring Program and/or can illustrate your partnerships with buyers in tourism trade your business will be included in the Bundaberg, Southern Great Barrier Reef Trade Manual that is used as a key resource at all trade events and destination promotions with buyers around the world.

Silver Members can be a part of the Bundaberg, Southern Great Barrier Reef Trade Product offering when they have completed a trade mentoring course or have evidence of existing trade relationships. If you want to work with tourism trade, contact our Trade and Industry Development Executive Loni Hammond
