Bundaberg Tourism and North Burnett Regional Council Forge Regional Tourism Partnership for a Stronger North Burnett

Growing the North Burnett’s story through collaboration, marketing and community-led tourism.

Bundaberg Tourism and North Burnett Regional Council have formalised a new partnership to strengthen tourism outcomes across the North Burnett, celebrating a shared commitment to sustainable growth, regional visibility, and local prosperity.

The partnership establishes a framework for collaboration across marketing, destination development, data and insights, and industry engagement, ensuring the North Burnett’s experiences and warm hospitality are clearly and distinctly represented within the broader Bundaberg region brand.

With the support of the North Burnett Regional Council, businesses across the region are now eligible for a 25% membership subsidy with Bundaberg Tourism.

What this means is that businesses in the North Burnett, such as accommodation providers, hotels, hospitality, attractions and tour operators, will be able to more easily connect with regional marketing campaigns, business development programs, and visitor engagement opportunities.

Bundaberg Tourism CEO Katherine Reid said the partnership is a milestone in regional collaboration and reflects a shared vision for sustainable tourism growth.

“This partnership is built on a shared commitment to seeing the North Burnett thrive,” Ms Reid said. “Through Council’s leadership and investment, we can ensure North Burnett’s stories and experiences are visible across our destination marketing, while helping local businesses connect, grow, and succeed as part of the Bundaberg destination brand.”

North Burnett Regional Council CEO, Craig Matheson said the Council has re-established a strong partnership with Bundaberg Tourism to build broader awareness of everything the region has to offer to and in doing so, afford new opportunities opportunities for tourism and other businesses across the region to benefit from visitor growth.

“We know the North Burnett is an exceptionally attractive place to live, but the beauty and appeal of the region has not necessarily been well showcased to a wider audience – so that is what we are hoping to achieve through this new partnership,” Mr Matheson said.

“Tourism creates opportunities for local people and local businesses and with the commitment to clear destination marketing of the region, this should help build community pride, promote the incredible character of our communities and highlight the exceptional visitor experiences the North Burnett has to offer,” Mr Matheson said.

“This partnership is about working hand-in-hand with Bundaberg Tourism to support our local businesses, attract more visitors, and ensure that through our collaboration with Bundaberg Tourism, we open up more opportunities to share the North Burnett story with the world.”

The partnership will include quarterly reviews to track progress and measure impact across the North Burnett’s visitor economy, as well as supporting the establishment of a North Burnett Tourism Action Group to drive the coordinated approach to tourism and marketing across the region.
