European Travel Experts Discover Bundaberg’s Best
The Bundaberg Region’s tourism industry recently played host to a group of high-performing European travel agents as part of Tourism and Events Queensland’s (TEQ) European Premium Aussie Specialists Famil, delivered in partnership with Tourism Australia (TA) and Qatar Airways.
The visiting agents are part of the Premier Aussie Specialist (PAS) Program, an elite extension of TA’s Aussie Specialist Program. Members of this program are recognised for their deep destination knowledge, industry connections, and proven success in selling Australian experiences.
As top-tier specialists, they enjoy access to exclusive training, workshops, and trips to the destination (called famils) that shape how they sell and promote Australia to their clients in their home countries.
This famil was designed to showcase the unexpected Queensland destinations and experiences that sit beyond the state’s well-known icons. The group explored Australia’s Nature Coast and the Southern Great Barrier Reef, both key highlights of TEQ’s recent European roadshows across Germany, France, and Italy.
Bundaberg welcomed twelve agents from these three markets, accompanied by representatives from TA and TEQ. Over two nights, they immersed themselves in our local experiences, met passionate operators, and saw first-hand why Bundaberg, Southern Great Barrier Reef is a must for international travellers.
Loni Hammond, Bundaberg Tourism’s Industry Development Manager, praised the collaboration and the standout experiences delivered by local operators: “Our industry rolled out the red carpet to these important agents, ensuring they experienced some of our incredible holiday offerings and meet the rockstars who bring our region to life.
“Congratulations and thanks go to the entire teams from Monsoon Aquatics, Macadamias Australia, Bundaberg Rum Visitor Experience, Mon Repos Turtle Centre, Lady Musgrave Experience, and The Garden Mill, who always go above and beyond make our region’s guests feel like family. “Time and again, we are reminded that it is our people who make the Bundaberg Region stand out.”
More than just a showcase, the famil was an investment in Bundaberg’s tourism future, strengthening relationships with influential European travel partners, and helping ensure that our region features in new itineraries, packages, and campaigns across key international markets.
The European Premium Aussie Specialists Famil was a resounding success, reinforcing Bundaberg’s appeal as a diverse, world-class destination. "These kinds of visits don’t just inspire future travellers - they create powerful word-of-mouth promotion, drive long-term bookings, and boost the local economy,” said Loni.
Bundaberg is truly making waves on the global stage - and it’s thanks to the passionate operators and experiences that make our region unforgettable.
