Bundaberg Today: Bundaberg Region's 'DNA'

With border restrictions easing across the nation, more and more people are looking to make up for lost time with their families and friends and to explore all the places they dreamed of while in lockdown.  With more than 193,000 visitors to the www.bundabergregion.org website over this time, we’ve seen many people from all over Australia exploring Bundaberg region holiday options.

When developing our destination strategic plan last year, we delved into what makes up the Bundaberg Region’s ‘DNA’, which emphasized to us, that it’s not only Rum, our beaches, or our turtles that attract people planning their Bundaberg holiday….

It’s our caring people and diverse community. Whether it’s an old friend or a visitor spending time in the region, our people are warm and welcoming with unwavering passion to seeing the region thrive, helping out however they can.

It’s our focus for the future. Our region has always been willing to think outside the box and give it a go. We are an ambitious bunch of people, finding new and innovative ways to grow the region from our booming agricultural industry to our successful tourism industry.

It’s our spectacular year-round weather and beautiful landscapes. Many of us may take this for granted….we are truly blessed to wake up every day with warm weather, perfect for a dip along our coastline, for diving into the Southern Great Barrier Reef, a haven for giant marine life, and for discovering our farm-gates and national parks with the windows down.

It’s our home-grown creativity. We are lucky to have such talented and imaginative people right here in our backyard continually creating. From our incredible arts community producing masterpieces to our passionate foodies serving up mouthwatering dishes, full of fresh local produce grown by our hardworking farmers.

It’s our sincere authenticity. There’s no hype or sell. We are a destination that is true to its word, with a community believing in what we have to offer and creating real experiences that visitors can’t have anywhere else in the world, with people unlike anyone else in the world.

As we look to the end of 2020, we’re incredibly grateful for all of these things that make up Bundaberg’s DNA!

Yours in tourism,

Katherine Reid, CEO
