Bundaberg’s Best Go For Gold At Queensland Tourism Week

A big week lies ahead for the Bundaberg Region’s tourism industry, with representatives from tourism & hospitality gathering in Brisbane with their colleagues from around the state for Destination IQ, the Destination Q Forum and the QTIC Queensland Tourism Awards.

Bundaberg Tourism CEO Katherine Reid is featured on the program of Indigenous tourism conference Destination IQ on Wednesday 10 November as a speaker.

The DestinationQ Forum on Thursday 11 November will gather government and industry leaders to focus on the theme of Looking forward to the Future of Tourism, and discuss forward trends in tourism, experience development, tourism recovery and the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics 2032.

DestinationQ is always a high point in the Queensland tourism calendar and Bundaberg’s tourism and hospitality businesses will join hundreds of delegates to share knowledge, network and close out 2021 with positivity and community.

For the past 35 years, the Queensland Tourism Awards (QTA) have been recognising the outstanding achievements of the state’s tourism industry, including individuals, operators, and events. With an aim to not only celebrate the excellence within the industry but reinforce the vital value and importance of the tourism industry and continual raising of standards amongst operators.

With six of Bundy’s best nominated across a variety of categories, an entry into these prestigious awards is no small undertaking, with each application taking many hours of hard work to compete against the very best of their industry peers.

Bundaberg Rum Visitor Experience will be looking to bring home their third Gold in the Tourism Wineries, Distilleries & Breweries Experiences, which will see them enter the QTA Hall of Fame and progress again to the Australian Tourism Awards.

Also defending their title will be the Windmill Café Bargara, who took out Gold in the competitive Tourism Restaurants and Catering Services category in 2019, alongside Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort, Lady Musgrave Experience, Hinkler Hall of Aviation, and Splitters Farm.

Katherine Reid, CEO of Bundaberg Tourism, said “This week each year is incredibly important as Bundaberg and the Queensland tourism industry to come together to connect with what is happening across the state. These industry events allow us to both celebrate the year that has been and to look ahead as we’re planning the future of tourism.”
