Bundaberg Tourism is proud to announce an outstanding result in the 2026 assessment of the Best of Queensland Experience Program (BOQEP), with 58 Bundaberg Region experiences celebrating after being named Best of Queensland by Tourism and Events Queensland.

Out of 93 local experiences assessed, 62% (58 experiences) have been identified as Best of Queensland Experiences.

The region also recorded an impressive ReviewPro Global Review Index (GRI) score of 90.98 an increase from 89.95 in 2025. The GRI is a world-renowned reputation score based on an aggregation of online customer reviews across more than 140 global travel review sites. It reflects real-time customer sentiment and is a cornerstone of BOQEP’s independent assessment process.

The BOQEP is Tourism and Events Queensland’s (TEQ’s) official stamp of excellence, developed in partnership with Queensland’s Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs), the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), and the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI). The program helps visitors identify tourism operators who consistently go above and beyond – and provides industry with valuable insights to drive ongoing improvement.

“Tourism is powered by people, and these results are a strong reflection of the passion, professionalism and pride our operators bring to every visitor experience across the Bundaberg, Southern Great Barrier Reef region,” Bundaberg Tourism CEO Katherine Reid said.

“To have 58 local experiences recognised through the Best of Queensland Experience Program is an outstanding result, and the uplift in our region’s ReviewPro score shows that visitors are not just coming here, they are leaving inspired and ready to recommend the tourism operators and businesses across the region.

“We are incredibly proud to see so many Bundaberg region businesses recognised, and particularly proud that our region’s visitor sentiment continues to grow year on year”

This year marked the first time the BOQE program introduced three recognition tiers (gold, silver and teal), providing a clear pathway for operators to continually improve their experience delivery and align with industry best practice.

Seven local experiences achieved the maximum score of 100 points, earning Gold Status:

Turtle Sands

A further six experiences achieved Silver status, scoring 95 points or above:
