Two new statewide opportunities build on Bundaberg Tourism’s recently delivered AI-readiness program, giving local operators flexible pathways to continue developing practical AI capability.
Following the recent delivery of Bundaberg Tourism’s local AI-Readiness and Digital Marketing Program, local operators now have two Queensland-wide opportunities to continue building their capability: the Queensland Tourism AI Adoption Program delivered by Tourism Tribe, and QTIC’s AI in Action: Tourism online course series.
Delivered with Tourism Tribe, Bundaberg Tourism’s local program launched in May was designed as practical, business-specific support rather than generic training. Participating operators received an AI and digital engagement health check, a written report with prioritised recommendations and dedicated coaching focused on implementation. The program focused on helping operators understand how AI is changing the way travellers research, compare and book experiences, while identifying practical improvements to websites, digital visibility and marketing activity.
“Our focus has been on practical outcomes for each operator. The next opportunity is to help participating businesses build on their individual action plans and take advantage of further support that can accelerate adoption across marketing, administration and everyday business tasks.”
Loni Hammond, Industry Development Manager, Bundaberg Tourism
Both initiatives are funded by the Queensland Government and focus on practical tourism applications, but they offer different levels of support. The Tourism Tribe program is a selective, subsidised program for 130 businesses seeking an assessment, workshops, individual mentoring and an action plan. QTIC’s program is free, open online learning for tourism business owners, operators, employees and others in the industry who want to build their knowledge at their own pace.
Businesses ready to commit to a structured program and apply AI to specific operational priorities may benefit most from the Tourism Tribe opportunity. Those looking for a flexible starting point, team-wide foundation training or targeted skills in AI and cyber security can begin with QTIC’s short courses. Operators may also choose to use the free courses first and then apply for tailored support as their needs become clearer.
“AI is changing the visitor journey quickly, and regional businesses should be equipped to respond with confidence. This program has helped operators move beyond the hype and identify practical actions that can make their businesses easier to find, easier to choose and more efficient to run.”
Duncan Littler, Chief Executive Officer, Bundaberg Tourism
