Bundaberg Berry Trail
Pick your own. Eat your fill. Repeat.
Strawberry season is on in Bundaberg — and yes, you’re invited into the paddock.
Every August, the farms wake up and the fields turn red. Bundaberg’s rich volcanic soil and warm Queensland winters produce strawberries that are plumper, sweeter, and juicier than anything you’ll find at a supermarket — and here, you pick them yourself straight from the patch.
Farm-gate fresh. Sun-warm. Worth the drive.
Once a year.
don't miss out
The sweetest thing about Bundaberg winter? The strawberries.
The patchwork of fertile red volcanic soils of Bundaberg have been producing exceptional food for generations — and every year from August to October, that legacy lands in your hands in the form of some of the best strawberries in Australia. There’s reason Bundaberg strawberries taste different.
Queensland’s strawberry season runs from May right through to October, but it’s the spring flush — when the fields are at their fullest and the days are warming up — that draws visitors out to the farms. Here, PYO isn’t a novelty act. It’s the real deal: working farms, proper rows, and berries that have been left on the plant long enough to actually ripen.
Make a day of it and PYO at some of the regions finest with the Bundaberg Berry Trail!
Farm
Features
Beyond the picking, there’s farm-made ice cream, fresh produce stalls, and the kind of laid-back farm atmosphere that reminds you why a weekend away from the city is always a good idea.
Check out these cracking locations:
Bargara Berries | 104 Hoods Rd, Meadowvale
Even when picking isn’t on, Bargara Berries is still a solid stop during the season. Think fresh coffee, pancakes, local inspired gelato and a farm gate stacked with jams, sauces and local produce. Grab a table, and settle into a slow, easy morning on the farm or check out their seasonal events at the farm.
No strawberries? No worries. Tinaberries keeps things sweet all year with real fruit ice cream made on-site. Swing by for a cone, wander the gardens and soak up the farm vibe — it’s an easy add-on after a day exploring.
