Burnett Heads

Burnett Heads is what happens when a fishing village decides not to grow up.

Thongs on, shoulders down, worries off. The river rolls out to the reef, the boats slip in and out of the port, and nobody’s in much of a hurry about anything.

Grab fish and chips, wander the marina, stroll out to the lighthouse, or find a spot to watch the water and pretend you’ve got nowhere else to be. Mon Repos’ turtles are just up the road, the sea breeze does wonders for the soul, and somehow the day disappears without you noticing.

Stay a few hours or stay the night. Either way, you’ll get why people keep coming back.

adventures

Drop a line in the Burnett River and see what bites, or just wander the port and soak up the calm. When hunger hits, swing by the Lighthouse Hotel for a cold one and a classic feed, this is where locals unwind and swap yarns. If you fancy something a bit different, Monsoon Aquatics run hands-on coral farm tours right here, and for a proper reef fix, Lady Musgrave Experience takes off straight from the port.
