BUNDABERG TOURISM MARKS 55TH AGM WITH CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM AND BOARD RENEWAL

Bundaberg Tourism has celebrated a significant milestone in the organisation’s history, with members gathering for the 55th Annual General Meeting and endorsing a new Constitution designed to support the organisation’s future growth and governance.

The AGM also saw members receive the organisation’s 2025/26 Annual Report and audited financial statements, while welcoming four Directors to the Board following the close of nominations.

The Annual Report celebrates a defining year of delivery by the Bundaberg Tourism team. Major achievements included the launch of the new Bundaberg, Southern Great Barrier Reef destination brand, a refreshed corporate identity and new destination and events websites, creating a stronger and more consistent platform to inspire visitors, support industry and build pride in place. Alongside this work, the team continued to deliver destination marketing, visitor services, industry development and advocacy, while progressing long-term destination planning and strengthening partnerships across the Bundaberg and North Burnett regions.

Chair Daniel Reeves acknowledged the scale of the year’s achievements and the collective effort behind them.

“The Board acknowledges the considerable effort of the team, industry and stakeholders who contributed to bringing this vision to life. Together, we continue to build a destination that not only attracts visitors but creates lasting value for our communities, businesses and future generations,” Mr Reeves said.

CEO Duncan Littler said the 55th AGM provided an opportunity to reflect on the contribution Bundaberg Tourism has made to the region over more than five decades, while also ensuring the organisation remains well positioned for the years ahead.

“For 55 years, Bundaberg Tourism has championed our visitor economy, supported local industry and shared our region with visitors from across Australia and around the world.

“Today’s AGM was an opportunity to recognise that legacy, while also looking firmly to the future. With a modern Constitution, a renewed Board and strong momentum across the destination, we are well positioned to pursue new opportunities and continue growing the value tourism delivers for our region.”

The newly adopted Constitution modernises Bundaberg Tourism’s governance framework and reflects contemporary governance practice, providing a stronger platform for strategic leadership, accountability and long-term sustainability.

The AGM also confirmed the appointment of four Directors. As the number of nominations received matched the number of Director vacancies available, an election was not required.

Returning Directors appointed for a new term are Steve Caville, Tina McPherson and Warrick Wright, being joined by new Director Agnele Finete.

Duncan Littler said the organisation was fortunate to benefit from volunteer Directors who contribute their expertise, regional knowledge and commitment to the visitor economy.

“Strong governance and committed industry leadership are critical to the success of any destination organisation and we are fortunate to have Directors who bring valuable expertise, regional knowledge and a genuine commitment to our visitor economy.  As we enter this next chapter, our focus is firmly on working with industry, government and community partners to build a more resilient, sustainable and competitive visitor economy that creates lasting value for local businesses, our communities and the people who visit our region.”

The AGM outcomes come at an important time for the region, as Bundaberg Tourism works with industry and stakeholders to shape the next phase of destination development and visitor economy growth across the Bundaberg and North Burnett regions. This work will help guide future priorities while ensuring tourism continues to create value for local communities and businesses.
