Brewhouse Ballistic Bargara tempts with local boutique brews

Guest Blogger Bio Jess Marsellos

As you enter the brewhouse mismatched couches and chairs, old electrical wooden spindles for tables and a selection of bar games to keep you entertained greet you. It's laid back, let’s settle in for the long haul type atmosphere, means you will have loads of time to try the huge selection of craft brews on tap.

Formerly known as The Brewhouse, Ballistic Bargara now falls under the umbrella of Salsibury (Brisbane) based brew company Ballistic. Still independent and brewed on-site at the awesome, industrial-style warehouse on Tantitha Street in the Bundaberg CBD, Ballistic bring lots of delicious tried and tested brews from its parent company to sit alongside some of the local beer favourites The Brewhouse crew have been building for the past six years like the Rusty Roo and Thirsty Turtle.

The deal expands the beer on offer at The Brewhouse but ensures that the same awesome vibe with lots of local-inspired and crafted content is still on-site like the Great White which is brewed with local ginger to create an adult ginger beer.

There are some very clever and cool beer cocktails you won't find anywhere else like the stout espresso martini (see recipe below) using a mash up of beer and Bundaberg Royal Coffee Liqueur and a posh ginger shandy and you can nibble away on delectable bar bites with inspired ingredients like local salted macadamia nuts, sweet potato fries, Simpson farms guacamole and chips. If you are after something more substantial there are pizzas to go with your brews - try the blue cheese and garlic (but maybe don't’ breathe on your buddies for a while after).

You can see all of the huge vats of brew material on show, watch brewers checking temps, fermentation and adding fresh ingredients in, all while sipping on Bundaberg’s best brews, Ballistic reckon fresh beer is the best beer so small batches, kept super cold and regular flavours will always be on the menu.

The details: Open Wednesday and Thursday 11:30am to 8:30pm, Friday and Saturday 11:30am to 9:30/10pm at 10 Tantitha Street, Bundaberg Central.
