Good news, food lovers…. Taste Bundaberg Festival is just around the corner from 4–13 September, serving up 10 delicious days of long lunches, local flavours and plenty of reasons to loosen the belt a notch.
We’ve done the hard yakka and rounded up a few delicious reasons to visit, so all you’ve gotta do is round up the crew and maybe pack the stretchy pants. And with turtles, reef adventures, a Bundaberg Rum tour, a stop at the Bundaberg Brewed Drinks Barrel and a few local macadamias waiting between meals, there’s every reason to turn it into a proper Bundy getaway.
WEEKEND ONE – COME HUNGRY
Weekend one is coming in hot. Feeling a bit fancy? Slip into your fancy pants for The Spring Soirée at Water St Kitchen, where some of Bundy’s finest food takes centre stage. Or keep it classically posh with Devonshire tea and fresh scones at Mystery Craters. Who knows, you might even solve the mystery while you’re at it.
Then there’s the Wearable Canvas Gala, where art, fashion, cocktails and canapés collide in all the best ways. Expect glamour, creativity and a few jaw-dropping moments.
They say the way to Dad’s heart is through his stomach, so Flavours by the Foreshore sounds like a pretty safe bet for Father’s Day. Grab a picnic rug, order a grazing platter and let the ocean views at Elliott Heads do the rest.
MID WEEK – STILL HUNGRY
Still hungry? Good, because the festival doesn’t stop at the weekend. Think sunset drinks, hands-on cooking experiences and Symphony in the Strawberry Fields at Bargara Berries, where live music, local flavours and country charm come together among the strawberry rows.
Then keep things berry nice with a pick-your-own session at Tinaberries, or swap the table for the paddock at Splitters Farm, where friendly animals, fresh eggs and farm-life fun are all part of the experience.
WEEKEND TWO – GO BACK FOR SECONDS
Weekend two keeps the good times rolling. Learn the art of the perfect snag, sharpen your skills at a family-friendly masterclass, then head to Agrotrend + Farmers Market. It’s where farmers, foodies and families come together to celebrate the region’s agricultural heart, with fresh produce, artisan treats, flowers, preserves and farm gate goodies around every corner.
With so much to see, taste and explore, the hardest part won’t be choosing what to eat – it’ll be finding a reason to leave.
