Tasty Getaway For Busy Adults

You might want to pack your stretchy pants and bring a designated driver for this one...

DAY ONE

Lazy Brunch

Start your holiday off on the right foot, or more so, the right side of the bed with a well deserved sleep in. Make your way to Water St Kitchen for a lazy brunch of Salmon Benny featuring smoked salmon, sourdough, citrus kale, eggs, popped capers, burnt butter hollandaise, and Water Street Kitchen's mouth-watering French toast before beginning a day of boozy fun.

11:30AM: Let the fun be-Gin

Is gin and tonic your drink of choice? Why not head to the family-owned distillery and brewery Kalki Moon and try their award-winning gin, vodka and liqueurs? Enjoy a tour and tasting with the owners and visit their cellar door for some incredible local drinks to gift your friends and family. They also have a brand new locally distilled sugar cane spirit, that you can try too!

12:30PM: Seafood and Eat it!

Freshly caught local prawns sound like a good idea, right? Come and dine at Grunske's By The River Seafood Restaurant and Market with seafood being caught fresh and local daily. Grab a seafood platter for two or go healthy with a 'Prawn, Mango & Honey Walnut Salad'.

2PM: The Spirit of Rum

It's our most iconic spirit and a must-do for any visitor – rum-drinker or not. Explore the world-famous Bundaberg Rum Distillery on the Bundaberg Rum Distillery Visitor Experience tour. Learn the story behind Australia's favourite spirit before enjoying a tasting of the golden liquids you've just learnt about and explore the retail space.

3:30PM: In-cider Experience

100% Australia grown and made, Ohana Winery and Cheeky Tiki Cider House, has 8 epic ciders on tap, exotic fruit wines and liqueurs made from Queensland apples and local ingredients. Come sample their incredible (and award-winning) products with a tasting paddle, or learn the art to crafting their tantalising flavours on a 'Cider Insider' tour before taking home an array of quirky local ciders.

6PM: Riverside Feasting

Finish up your day with dinner and sweeping river views at H20 Restaurant and Bar. Enjoy a cocktail or local cider before starting your night time feast with Arancini of the day entre, Bundaberg Rum braised beef short ribs as your main and Bundaberg Rum liqueur affogato to complete your night.

DAY TWO

8AM: Mouth-watering eats in a Windmill

Situated just a block from Bargara Beach, start your morning with a wholesome breakfast showcasing fresh local ingredients at the award-winning Windmill Cafe, Bargara. Famous for their friendly greetings, tranquil gardens and quirky cafe hidden within the pale blue walls of a Dutch windmill, you can't go past trying the local's favourite Dragonfruit Bowl, packed with fresh local produce grown from the farmers down the road, or delectable corn fritters. If you're looking for a more traditional breaky, then fear not, they have you covered!

Breath-taking Beaches

With your belly full and satisfied, explore the beautiful Bargara Esplanade and wander through the boutique shops before venturing to your next destination.

10AM: From Plate to Farm-Gate!

What better way to explore the region and taste a unique farm-gate to plate experience than by visiting the farmers and sampling their produce with a farm-gate trail! Pack yourself a picnic basket and blanket before hitting the road and stopping into our regions seasonal farm-gates. From ticking farm-fresh ice-cream off your must-do list at Tinaberries, to stopping in at The Lettuce Patch or Alloway Farm Market for delicious local produce, there's plenty of tasty treats to be found for a tantalising picnic. Simply follow the trail below!

Local Tip: If you're planning to explore the farm-gates close to Bargara (purple trail), finish your trail with a picnic at Elliott Heads or Burnett Heads. If you're planning to follow the trail towards Moore Park Beach (green trail), this secluded local beach is the perfect haven for a romantic beachside picnic. And for those wanting to venture towards Childers (maroon trail), make Theodolite Creek at Woodgate Beach your final destination.

6PM: Food for The Soul

To complete your day of paddock to plate, make room for a delectable evening of tasty dishes made with love from a seasonal menu at HSG At The Gardens. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ambience of their alfresco dinning experience.

DAY THREE

8AM: The Morning After

You might be a little foggy from your busy day yesterday so get up and take a stroll along the riverside parkland's walking path. Head into the CBD after your walk and pick up a coffee or milkshake from one of the Earls Court cafes, Alowishus Delicious or Street Bean Coffee Bar because you're about to hit the road to the storybook town of Childers for some wine tasting.

10AM: Calorific kickstart

Is your tummy grumbling? Stop into the Aussie-Canadian fusion café that is Mollydookers Café & Bar at Apple Tree Creek. Don't count your calories here (holiday calories don't count anyway) and enjoy maple bacon, pancakes, waffles, French toast, bagels, brekky poutine and so much more deliciousness to get you through the day.

11AM: The Secret Spot

Making wine from their own beautiful vineyard, Vintner's Secret Vineyard is a beautiful spot to stop and sip some wine. Enjoy an elegant tasting before choosing your favourite glass to stroll through the working vineyard with, as you soak in the tropical sun. Be sure to visit the gift and gourmet shop and check out the local art on display.

12PM: Over The Hill

Make your final stop Hill Of Promise Winery, a boutique winery with a strong Sicilian heritage. Meet the owners Mary & Terry for an engaging story of their rich multicultural history and a tipple. Grab a bottle for your next dinner party and enjoy a picnic lunch before hitting the road and heading home.
